May 6, 2021 - Marta Rodriguez Extraordinary Kidney Donation -
Our member Marta Rodriguez donated a kidney to a person in need, who she does not know. Take a moment and let that sink in. Marta gave the gift of life to someone she does not know! Many of us would donate an organ to someone we know and love, but very few of us would donate an organ to someone we don’t even know. We wish Marta and the organ recipient a speedy recovery and good health.
April 23, 2021 - North Rockland Central School District Honors Rich Fernandez as Unsung Hero -
For today's #FeatureFriday film, we are sharing the next of #NRCSD's Unsung Heroes. #NR Meet Richard Fernandez. [🐾]
Richard Fernandez is the Board of Education President of the North Rockland School District. He has dedicated his entire career to public service and to serving his #Community. Rich is a retired New York City Police Sergeant of 24 years and in addition to serving on our BOE, he also serves various local community organizations like the BRIDGES and the Rockland County Hispanic Law Enforcement Organization.
During these challenging times, he has been the person with a steady hand to lead, steer and fight for our District, our children and our learning community as a whole. So much of our success is due to his wonderful leadership. Rich is an MS survivor. His amazing strength really inspires us and our students to never let anything stop us. He has made a difference in all of our lives, in the lives of our children, and our communities.
Unsung Heroes was inspired by the idea that everyone from gardeners and security guards to secretaries and office assistants plays an important role in creating a safe and healthy learning environment for students. We are so proud to introduce our president to our school community as the hero he truly is! On behalf of the entire District and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Rich! #NRPride #NRStrong #WER1NR #RaiderPride #UnsungHeroes
